01.《The Break Point》 | Nam June Paik × VERSEDAY
The Break Point: Opening | Media Facade (2 min)



Nam June Paik’s video synthesizer was a creative instrument that generated new colors, forms, and movements by combining and transforming different video signals. Through it, moving images expanded beyond the functions of recording and playback to become a fluid visual language, continuously reconfigured through the artist’s intervention.
The opening film takes its inspiration from the concept and experimental spirit of Paik’s video synthesizer. Screen noise, color bars, and distorted electronic imagery gradually spread across DDP’s facade, before resolving into a clean signal and countdown that seamlessly leads into the main performance.

The Break Point: Editions | Media Facade (5 min), Live Performance (40 min)



The Break Point reimagines Nam June Paik’s belief that anyone could create moving images as freely as one plays a musical instrument. For the first time at Seoul Light DDP, it brings live performance and real-time responsive media art together on a single stage.
The Editions comprise three distinct visual versions, each reflecting the character and color of SOULSCAPE, SION, and HYPNOSIS THERAPY. Every Friday through Sunday, each artist’s live set drives a new media performance in which music and visuals respond to one another in real time. On opening night, September 3, IDIOTAPE presents a special live performance.
By bringing contrasting sounds and visuals into one program, the work offers a varied viewing experience, with the atmosphere changing depending on when audiences visit. Light shifts to powerful beats, and vivid imagery comes alive with the music, creating a festival experience that dissolves the boundary between performance and media art.
In the spirit of Nam June Paik, who continually opened up new possibilities, Seoul Light DDP embraces another bold experiment—transforming the autumn night into an extraordinary stage of light.

02.《In Search of the Mountain Within》 | Yoo Youngkuk × Kwon Hayoun
Media Facade (6 min)



In Search of the Mountain Within transforms DDP's organically curved facade into a monumental canvas, reinterpreting Yoo Youngkuk's abstract paintings through large-scale media projection by Kwon Hayoun.

Bringing together Zaha Hadid's architectural curves and the rhythms of nature that Yoo contemplated throughout his life, the work expands the visual boundaries of painting, transforming the two-dimensional canvas into an organic urban and architectural landscape.

For Yoo, the "mountain" represented both an inner sensibility toward nature and a way of contemplating existence. Kwon Hayoun reimagines this motif as a mutable digital landscape that is continuously generated and transformed.

Brushstrokes and color are transformed into movements of light and the passage of the four seasons, while visitors encounter the changing landscape through their own movement in space.

At once an exploration of the possibilities of painting and an homage to Yoo Youngkuk's way of seeing, the work extends beyond the canvas to create an immersive spatial experience that envelops the city. Ultimately, it invites each visitor to quietly encounter another "mountain" that has taken shape within.

03.《Poetry-Starry Night》 | Cheongguyeongeon × 2GREY
Media Facade (4 min)



Dormant song lyrics awaken in light. Marking the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Gagyanal—now celebrated as Hangeul Day—the lyrics of Cheongguyeongeon (1728, compiled by Kim Cheon-taek), the oldest anthology of sijo, are sung anew.

Cheongguyeongeon contains Hangeul sijo that capture countless moments of human life. A Night When Words Shine is a contemporary media artwork that unfolds the landscapes of "emotion" and "nature" found in sijo across three scenes, following the traditional three-part structure of chojang, jungjang, and jongjang.

Opening Verse (Chojang) – Before the Song Dissolves Like Smoke (A Night When Words Shine: Songs Become Hangeul)
A song, once sung, would scatter and disappear like smoke. Passed from mouth to mouth, they were eventually recorded in Hangeul and preserved in Cheongguyeongeon, where they have endured to the present day. Reflecting this oral tradition of sijo, the opening verse combines hundreds of motion graphics of speaking mouths with a grid inspired by Hangeul's square syllabic blocks, creating a synesthetic experience in which written characters seem to produce sound.


Middle Verse (Jungjang) – The Green Mountains Flow On (Rhythms of the Landscape: Singing of Mountains and Water)
The middle verse reimagines landscapes found in the sijo of Cheongguyeongeon. The grid that formed the written characters breaks apart into 8-bit pixels, evoking a digitally rendered landscape painting. Digital elements of nature intersect with the tactile, analog textures of traditional craft, giving new voice to the natural landscapes of Korea found in Cheongguyeongeon—landscapes in which people of the past imagined living in harmony with nature.


Closing Verse (Jongjang) – Unfurling, Bend by Bend (A Sea of Resonance: Rippling Outward)
The scattered lyrics finally come together as one. Light across the facade swells and recedes like a heartbeat. At its emotional peak, the resonance becomes a vast wave sweeping across the entire facade and leaving a deep, lingering impression throughout the space. The songs preserved in Cheongguyeongeon resonate once more as light in the night, unfurling, bend by bend, in the hearts of audiences today.

04.《THE LIGHT AHEAD 》 | DDP 365 Light × Jeho Yun

THE LIGHT AHEAD: Through the Resonance of Time awakens the traces and echoes of the past accumulated within DDP's Relic Exhibition Plaza through the light and sound of the present, recasting them through a future-facing sensibility. The archaeological remains and architectural structures preserved here are not treated as static objects that simply hold the past, but as "strata of time" that continue to resonate with us in the present.

The work begins the moment a laser—the light of the future—reaches the DDP space, accompanied by the resonance of traditional percussion. Waves of light and percussive vibrations stir memories dormant within the space, while their echoes merge with electronic sound and expand into powerful AI-generated visuals and lighting. The energy of sound is transformed into visual form, becoming a medium that organically connects past and present, matter and technology.

Rather than reproducing or restoring the past as it was, the work invites audiences to experience accumulated time and memory anew through contemporary technology and sensory language. Light passing over the remains does not erase the past; instead, it reveals its traces and brings them back to life in the present.

The "light of the future" envisioned here is not a new world severed from the past. It is light reborn as long-accumulated memory and resonance pass through the body and technology of the present. Within a space transformed by light and sound, audiences encounter traces of time gone by and experience the new future that those resonances begin to reveal.

At Seoul Light DDP 2026 Autumn, media art goes beyond a viewing experience. For the first time, the festival presents special performances in which music, light, and visuals respond to one another in real time.

《K-Original Light》 – Opening Performance
 
Presented exclusively on opening night, this special 15-minute program ushers in the first light of Seoul Light DDP 2026 Autumn.
Laser light, the resonance of traditional percussion, electronic sound, AI-generated visuals and lighting, and the dancer's movement come together as one, awakening the traces of time accumulated at DDP through a contemporary language of sound, image, light, and movement.

Extending Nam June Paik's experimental spirit into the present, The Break Point is a 40-minute live performance in which the artist's music and the visuals across DDP's facade interact and evolve together in real time.

IDIOTAPE is one of Korea’s leading live electronic bands, known for a distinctive sound that moves between electronic music and rock. With immersive performances driven by analog synthesizers and powerful live drums, the band has built a singular musical identity and has twice won Best Dance & Electronic Album at the Korean Music Awards.

SION | Sep. 4 (Fri) · Sep. 5 (Sat), 20:20–21:00
SION is a Seoul-based electronic and hyperpop artist. Blending the sensibility of the internet music scene with experimental electronic sound, SION has developed a distinctive musical world and continues to build an international presence through a broad sonic palette and adventurous experimentation, with club performances in Korea and abroad as well as international tours.

HYPNOSIS THERAPY | Sep. 6 (Sun) · Sep. 12 (Sat), 20:20–21:00
HYPNOSIS THERAPY is an electronic music duo formed by producer Jflow and rapper JJANGYOU. Breaking down the boundaries between hip-hop and electronic music, the duo continues to perform actively in Korea and internationally with a distinctive sound of its own.

SOULSCAPE is a producer and DJ whose musical world spans hip-hop, electronic, soul, jazz, and beyond. Drawing from vinyl culture and glocal sound, his distinctive selections and deep musical sensibility have established him as one of the leading DJs in Korea's music scene.
